White Wedding Rose Bouquets for Melbourne Brides and Bridesmaids

White Reflexed Rose Bridal Bouquets – A Melbourne Favourite

Over the last few years, there is one bridal bouquet style we have seen come back again and again, the white reflexed rose bridal bouquet.

At Lillypad Flowers & Events, around 80% of our brides choose white flowers for their wedding day. We completely understand why. White flowers are timeless, elegant and incredibly versatile, and when we combine beautiful, fully bloomed roses with that soft reflexed finish, the result is simply stunning.

It is one of those styles that we never seem to get tired of creating.

Why We Love White Reflexed Roses

There is something special about a rose when it is allowed to open fully. Instead of a tight, traditional rose shape, we carefully work each flower by hand, gently reflexing the outer petals to create a much softer and more natural appearance.

It gives the roses that beautiful garden-style feel, romantic, relaxed and luxurious without looking overly structured.

For us, this is what makes a reflexed rose bridal bouquet so beautiful. It still has all the elegance and classic beauty of a rose, but it feels much more natural and organic.

Our Favourite White Rose – Playa Blanca

For many of our white bridal bouquets, we use beautiful imported Ecuadorian Playa Blanca roses.

They are a gorgeous variety, with large blooms, strong stems and excellent longevity. Although they are generally a beautiful white, depending on the crop, they can sometimes have a lovely warm ivory undertone. We actually love this subtle variation because it gives the bouquet warmth and stops the white from feeling too stark.

The size and quality of Playa Blanca roses also make them particularly well suited to reflexing.

Every Rose Is Hand-Reflexed

One thing we always explain to our brides is that reflexed roses take time.

This isn't something we simply do quickly with a few flowers. Each rose is individually handled and carefully opened by our florists to achieve the right shape. Once reflexed, the roses also need a little more care than a standard rose, so we take extra care with their preparation and conditioning.

That extra work is absolutely worth it.

When the finished bouquet comes together, you get those beautiful open blooms, soft edges and natural movement that make the bouquet feel almost as though it has just been gathered from a beautiful garden.

A Style That Never Goes Out of Fashion

White reflexed roses work beautifully with so many different Melbourne wedding styles. They can be kept simple and elegant using roses alone, or combined with other white flowers and greenery for a more relaxed garden-inspired bouquet.

After creating wedding flowers for more than 25 years, we have seen plenty of floral trends come and go. But the white rose bridal bouquet is one style we know will always have a place in weddings.

And when those roses are beautifully reflexed by hand, we think they are even more special.

For us at Lillypad, it's the combination of classic roses, beautiful flowers and careful hand craftsmanship that makes a bridal bouquet truly memorable.
