Mai & Mike’s Romantic Ormond House Wedding in Melbourne

Mai & Mike’s Romantic Ormond House Wedding in the Heart of Melbourne

There are some weddings that stay with you long after the flowers have been packed away, and Mai and Mike’s beautiful wedding at Ormond House in the heart of Melbourne was certainly one of them.

From the moment we began planning the flowers, it was clear that this was going to be a celebration filled with romance, elegance and beautiful personal touches. Having both their ceremony and reception at Ormond House created such a wonderful sense of flow to the day, allowing the couple and their guests to enjoy everything this beautiful Melbourne wedding venue has to offer.

Wedding Flowers at Ormond House Melbourne

Mai chose a soft, romantic palette of whites, warm neutrals and delicate peachy tones, creating a floral style that complemented the character and atmosphere of Ormond House beautifully.

Her bridal bouquet was a luxurious combination of white Playa Blanca roses, Quicksand roses and cascading white Phalaenopsis orchids. The orchids were particularly beautiful, flowing naturally from the bouquet to create that effortless cascading shape.

The combination of the crisp white roses with the warm, nude tones of the Quicksand roses gave the bouquet depth and dimension, while the Phalaenopsis orchids added movement, elegance and a touch of luxury.

We love using flowers that feel romantic without looking overly structured, and this bouquet was a perfect example. It had that beautiful, garden-inspired softness while still feeling sophisticated enough for a Melbourne wedding.

An Ethereal Wedding Ceremony at Ormond House

For the ceremony, we created an ethereal floral arch designed to frame Mai and Mike as they exchanged their vows.

The arch featured Toffee roses, Quicksand roses, white roses and delicate baby's breath, creating a dreamy installation that felt both romantic and timeless.

The warm tones of the Toffee and Quicksand roses worked beautifully against the whites, while the baby's breath softened the overall design and gave the arch a light, almost floating quality.

We wanted the flowers to feel as though they belonged naturally within the space rather than overpowering it. The result was a romantic ceremony setting that provided a beautiful backdrop for the couple while also creating a stunning focal point for their wedding photography.

There is something particularly special about creating ceremony flowers. You know that, for just a short moment, those flowers will stand behind a couple during one of the most important moments of their lives. We always feel incredibly privileged to play a small part in that.

Elegant Wedding Reception Flowers in Melbourne

Once the ceremony was complete, the floral styling continued through to Mai and Mike’s reception.

For the tables, we created footed glass vase centrepieces filled with flowers from the same romantic palette used throughout the wedding.

The arrangements incorporated the beautiful roses and soft floral tones, allowing the centrepieces to feel connected to the bridal bouquet and ceremony arch.

Using footed glass vases also gave the arrangements a lovely sense of height and elegance without making the tables feel crowded. Guests could still comfortably talk across the tables while enjoying the flowers as part of the overall reception styling.

For us, continuity is such an important part of wedding floral design. Rather than every floral arrangement looking completely different, we love creating a visual story that carries from the bride's bouquet, through the ceremony and into the reception.

Ormond House – A Beautiful Melbourne Wedding Venue

Located in the heart of Melbourne, Ormond House provides a beautiful setting for couples wanting a wedding that feels elegant, intimate and distinctly Melbourne.

Having both the ceremony and reception at the one location can make such a difference to the atmosphere of a wedding day. There is less rushing between venues, more time for guests to enjoy themselves and a natural progression from ceremony to celebration.

Ormond House provided the perfect backdrop for Mai and Mike's romantic wedding, with its beautiful character and sophisticated atmosphere complementing the floral styling beautifully.

It was wonderful to see everything come together on the day, from the ceremony arch to Mai's cascading orchid bouquet and the elegant reception tables.
