Gay & Pino's Colourful Winter Wedding at Rupert on Rupert Collingwood
As Melbourne wedding florists, we are constantly inspired by the unique stories behind every couple we work with. Sometimes a wedding flower concept develops over months of planning and mood boards. Other times, inspiration arrives instantly.
For Gay and Pino's vibrant winter wedding at Rupert on Rupert in Collingwood, the entire floral design was inspired by a single bouquet sitting in our Preston warehouse.
From that moment, a colourful and unforgettable wedding flower story began.
Finding Inspiration During a Wedding Flower Consultation
When Gay visited our Preston showroom for her wedding flower consultation, she immediately spotted one of our ready-made bouquets featuring bright sunflowers and seasonal rust-coloured roses.
Before discussing colour palettes, flower varieties or wedding styling, she pointed directly to the bouquet and told us she loved it.
Her brief was refreshingly simple.
The only flowers she specifically requested were roses and sunflowers.
Everything else was left to us.
As wedding florists, this kind of creative freedom allows us to design naturally and select seasonal flowers that complement each other beautifully while reflecting the couple's personality and wedding venue.
That single bouquet became the inspiration for every floral design throughout the wedding day.

A Stunning Winter Wedding at Rupert on Rupert
Located in the heart of Collingwood, Rupert on Rupert is one of Melbourne's most sought-after wedding venues.
Known for its industrial architecture, dramatic warehouse interiors and contemporary design, the venue provides the perfect backdrop for couples seeking a stylish and modern Melbourne wedding.
The venue's exposed brickwork, polished concrete and sophisticated interiors paired beautifully with Gay's wedding styling.
Rather than opting for traditional winter wedding colours, Gay embraced rich, vibrant tones that brought warmth and energy into the space.
The result was a celebration that felt welcoming, joyful and full of life.
A Custom Navy Wedding Dress That Perfectly Complemented the Venue
One of our favourite details from the day was Gay's stunning custom-made navy wedding dress.
The rich navy tones perfectly complemented Rupert on Rupert's interiors and created a sophisticated foundation for the colourful floral palette.
Against the deep blue fabric, every flower appeared even more vibrant.
The combination of navy, golden yellows, burnt oranges and rich rust tones created a modern wedding aesthetic that felt elegant while remaining playful and unique.
It was a wonderful reminder that couples don't need to follow tradition to create a beautiful wedding day.

Vibrant Winter Wedding Flowers Inspired by Sunflowers
The bridal bouquet became the centrepiece of the floral story.
Built around Gay's favourite sunflowers and premium roses, we designed a bouquet filled with movement, texture and seasonal colour.
The bouquet featured rust disbuds, orange marigolds, kumquats, orange phalaenopsis orchids, premium roses, hot poker flowers, cymbidium orchids, calla lilies, anthuriums and rust hydrangea.
Abundant textural elements added depth and interest throughout the design.
The warm colour palette perfectly reflected the season while creating a striking contrast against the cooler winter surroundings.
Every flower was carefully selected to enhance the bouquet while maintaining a natural, garden-inspired feel.

Colourful Reception Flowers for Rupert on Rupert
The floral styling continued into the reception space where we created relaxed yet impactful table arrangements.
For the guest tables, we selected mason jars filled with seasonal flowers and textured botanical elements.
The arrangements featured cheerful poppies, roses, marigolds, hot poker flowers, crab apples and complementary seasonal blooms.
This style of wedding centrepiece worked beautifully within the venue's warehouse setting.
The mason jars created an approachable and relaxed atmosphere while still feeling elevated and thoughtfully designed.
The colourful arrangements encouraged conversation and added warmth throughout the reception room.
Why Winter Weddings Are Perfect for Seasonal Flowers
Winter weddings in Melbourne offer many advantages when it comes to floral design.
The cooler temperatures help flowers remain fresh for longer, while many premium seasonal blooms display exceptional colour intensity during the winter months.
For Gay and Pino's wedding, the season allowed us to create rich and vibrant arrangements that felt luxurious, textural and full of personality.
The combination of sunflowers, orchids, roses and seasonal textures transformed the venue into a warm and inviting celebration space despite the cooler weather outside.

A Melbourne Wedding Full of Colour, Personality and Love
What we loved most about Gay and Pino's wedding was how authentically it reflected who they are as a couple.
From the custom navy gown to the sunflower-inspired floral designs, every detail felt personal and meaningful.
Their wedding proved that winter weddings don't need to be understated. With the right flowers, colour palette and venue, a winter celebration can feel vibrant, joyful and unforgettable.
We were honoured to bring their floral vision to life and create wedding flowers that perfectly captured the warmth, energy and personality of their special day.
For couples planning a winter wedding in Melbourne, Gay and Pino's celebration is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the best wedding inspiration starts with a single bouquet and a simple idea.
