About Bundoora

Bundoora is one of the suburbs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is 16 kilometers north of Melbourne’s Central Business District.

The suburb is the headquarters of La Trobe University, Bundoora Campus.

At the 2016 ABS Census, Bundoora had a population of 28,653 people. In which, 49.5% were males and 50.5% were females. There were also 6,985 families. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island made up only 0.7% of the population.

History of Bundoora

The suburb was first occupied by the Kumaj-berring tribe of the Wurunderji clan. 

Before the European settlement, there were huge wetlands that were used by Kumaj-berring tribe’s members.

Bundoora’s first Post office opened on October 1st, 1863.

The Florida Cheese company was established in 1955 by the family of Montalto.
